We are a progressive Christian community, acknowledging the validity of other faith expressions while seeking to mine the depths of our own experience both individually and collectively. We are committed to being active participants in the community while keeping reconciliation and inclusivity at the heart of our goals.

In keeping with our mission, vision, and values; in January of 2022 our historic building was transformed into Augustine Centre. This reclaimed space is striving to become a hub for the arts, education, faith, and justice. In partnering with Augustine Centre, our sanctuary is set to undergo a renovation to be transformed into a multi-purpose space.

Affirming

As an Affirming congregation, Augustine is a community that welcomes and supports the LGBTQ2IA+ community in all aspects of life. We believe that all people are children of God; that persons of all ages, races, sexual orientations, and gender identities are part of our increasingly diverse culture.

Augustine is fully supportive of Affirm United as we strive to continue to be supportive and accepting of all.

History

Augustine United Church held its first worship service in June, 1887 and the cornerstone of the current building was laid in 1903. In 1995, Augustine became the first Affirming congregation in the United Church of Canada.
